St. John Youth Attended ELCA Gathering in New Orleans

My Brother’s Table

St. John’s LYFE Committee will be serving three meals at My Brother’s Table (Salvation Army) this year. On July 7th, they served the second of these three meals, providing approximately 80 meals. The Food Services Director, Trinette Ream, shared this note of thanks: “Please extend my deepest appreciation to everyone who helped with the meal. What you prepared sounded delicious, and I can’t recall another group preparing Chicken Parm recently. We are so grateful for the time each of you spent preparing and serving the meal to our community members who come to us for help.” The next meal will be served on September 7th and will include subs, chips, fruit, and cookies.

Annual Chicken BBQ

The annual chicken BBQ was a great success! Over 400 meals were served, and more than $2,000 was raised for local food pantries. A big thank you to everyone who bought tickets, helped with setup, serving, and teardown, and to those who donated applesauce cups for the meals. Your support made this event possible!

Gleaning for Project Share

St. John folks participated in gleaning for Project Share during four hot summer evenings. If you couldn’t join in then, don’t worry—gleaning continues through October 26th. Fall is a great time to glean apples, so bring the kids and come out to help feed those in our local community who are in need of food. You can sign up to glean.
